Influencer posts a Lambo. Course offer of €1,500. Promise: learn DM templates, learn Loom recordings, earn €5-15K per month.

Course contains: 30+ hours of video, a Skool community, and a 'guarantee' worthless in practice. Refund policies are typically 7-14 days, often before you can see real results.

Reason 1: the work is more repetitive than advertised

Reality of setter work: 200-400 cold DMs per day. Same 3-4 templates over and over. 1-2 calls per day to book. Endless follow-ups.

Influencer footage shows 'flexible work from the beach'. Reality is 8 hours a day at a laptop, often at irregular hours to catch US closers.

Reason 2: cashflow is brutal

Setter is typically paid per closed deal, not per conversation. First 2 months: €0-€300 income because the funnel is not full yet.

Months 3-4: first real commissions, possibly €500-€1,500. Months 5-6: only then stable income around €1,500-€2,500.

Many beginners quit in months 1-2 because they can't make ends meet. The 'no money first' period is what course sellers deliberately don't emphasize.

Reason 3: closer dependency

A setter is tied to their closer. Bad closer = setter's leads don't convert = setter earns nothing.

Closer switches niche or quits? Setter starts from scratch. No buildable assets, no own brand.

Reason 4: psychological wear

300 DMs per day, 95% ghosted or blocked. Brain gets daily rejection feedback.

Burnout averages at 5-6 months. Even setters doing well financially often quit around this point.

Combine setter work with other income streams from day 1. Trading bot on €500 capital = passive side income compounding without extra hours. Setter work during the day, bot runs in the background.

View setter work as 6-12 months of sales education, not a lifelong career. Skills you learn (objection handling, prospecting, follow-up discipline) are valuable for later ventures.
