What a VPS is and why you want one
A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is an external Windows machine running 24/7 in a data center. Your MT5 lives on it, your bot runs on it, and stability is much higher than your own laptop.
Main benefits: no connection drops, no Windows updates that restart your bot at the wrong moment, and lower latency to the broker (especially if your VPS is in the same region as the broker server).
Specs you need
For 1 MT5 instance with 1 EA: 2 GB RAM, 1-2 vCPU, 30 GB SSD. Enough and cheap.
For multiple MT5 instances or heavy EAs with many symbols monitored: 4 GB RAM, 2 vCPU.
Don't buy the heaviest VPS. €5-15 per month is enough for 95% of users.
Recommended providers
Contabo: €5-7 per month for a Windows VPS in Germany. Solid for European brokers, includes Windows license.
FXVM, ForexVPS: specialized in MT5/MT4 hosting, latency-optimized for forex brokers. Slightly more expensive (€20-30 per month) but less hassle with Windows licenses.
Hetzner Cloud: technically stronger but you install Windows yourself. For people comfortable with admin work.
Setup in 30 minutes
Order VPS, RDP in, download and install MT5, log in to broker account, drag EA on the chart, done.
Tip: use a password manager for RDP credentials. A VPS with a weak password gets brute-forced within weeks and used as a crypto miner by someone else.
When VPS is not worth it
If you are a swing trader doing 1-2 trades per week and closing manually, your laptop is fine. VPS value is higher the more hours your bot must be live.
For scalping bots or bots trading around news events: VPS is essential. 200ms extra latency from your home internet can already miss early exit signals.
We host the bot for you
You don't set up a VPS yourself. Our bot runs on our infrastructure, your account linked to our server.
